Both Patrick and I made it safely to Rome! It's been an incredible couple of days since he arrived - chock-full of some of life's most enjoyable things: friendship, conversation, adventure, and Italian cuisine (paired with Italian wine, of course!). We took the traveling "No-Shave-Or-Haircut Show" on the road to Montalcino for a few days, and will be heading out tomorrow for Florence! More soon....
| Terrorizing the streets of Rome with our facial hair. |
| The Pantheon - NOT the Parthenon. |
| Result of lazy Roman architects. |
| "Why would they leave a hole in the ceiling? Especially when it's raining?!" |
| The courtyard was open so we just helped ourselves to some sightseeing.... |
| Intricate courtyard. |
| Dragons in the archways... |
| ...Bees on the roof! |
| Never seen a musical instrument like this before... |
| Up on the downside of Rome. |
Q: What is your strategy for defeating the mighty kraken?
A: Well first, I'm going to take off all my clothes. |
| A dragon beggar. |
| The Trevi Fountain |
| The Spanish Steps |
| Haven't I seen this somewhere before? |
| Nom, nom, nom! |
| Santa Maria di Loreto (aka what every third building looks like in Rome - it's not a criticism, just an observation!) |
| Il Vittoriano |
| Chuck!!! |
| The ruins. |
| The Colosseum. |
| This isn't Paris! |
| The Colosseum and the populi. |
| Watercolored buildings |
| Roman street at sunset |
| Looking towards the Vatican. |
| A Roman seraph |
| No words to describe...let's just say they're not descendants of Remus and Romulus's wolf mother... |
| The Pope! |
| Ominous skies. |
| Ah, it cleared up! |
| Now it's ominous again. |
| More of the Vatican, this time from the Piazzale Garibaldi. |
